A call to Prayer and Fasting 2018

Matthew 17: 14-21: 14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, 15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. 16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. 17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. 18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. 19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

If you ever get to a place in your life where you feel like something is missing, it’s probably a connection problem: you are disconnected from God and too connected to the world. Prayer and fasting can have a powerful impact on setting your life back on track. The more time you spend with something, the more confidence you build in it. The same is true for God. The more time you spend with God, the more your faith in Him will grow.

This January, as we commit ourselves to 21 days of prayer and fasting. let us focus on the following:

1. Ask for forgiveness – Purity
2. Declare your dependence upon God. Start 2018 by giving these 21 days to God.
3. Refocus on eternity
4. Invite the presence of God in your life, Get close to God, Seek the Baptism of the Holy Spirit
5. Seek to witness to the lost and so complete the great commission. We exist to serve others by showing God’s love in practical ways through meeting the needs within our communities and spheres of influence. Simple acts of personal kindness can open hearts to the love of Jesus for both those being served and those serving.
6. Believe God for answers for specific needs

Join us in service to God and His people. And always remember as we enter these 21 days of prayer and fasting that we serve a God who hears and answers our prayers.
