Is this the Beginning of the End?

Revelation 5:1  - 9:21

Revelation 5:9 outlined how they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation”

In Greek mythology, Pandora’s box contained all manner of misery and evil. Though forbidden to do so, Pandora opened the box, and the evils spilled out over the whole earth. The opening of the seven seals marks the beginning of the end as God’s judgments are poured out. To a Christ-rejecting world it will seem like the opening of a Pandora’s box, only worse.

In the Book of Revelation you will see a world that refuses to repent and change its ways, despite the judgments. Standing out in bold relief from the darkness of God’s judgments is the Body of Christ, the Church, now appearing in glory singing their new song. The contrast between an unrepentant world and a glorious Church is sobering. It reminds us to examine and test ourselves to be sure we are in the faith: “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” (2 Corinthians 13:5).

The challenge for us in 2017 in to set aside time each day to read the Word of God and pray, especially for the world in which we live. Pray for souls and that we would walk in a way worthy of God’s calling.
A blessed and happy New Year to each of you!
